Uganda is the only country in Africa that has been visited by three Popes, mostly because of Uganda martyrs. The visit to Uganda by Pope Francis in 2015 boosted Uganda’s tourism sector. Uganda was the only African country visited by Pope Paul VI (1969) during his 15-year reign at the Vatican. Next was Pope John Paul II in February 1993.
